A Message from our FY13 President:
2012 marks NABA Chicago’s 35th year and I am honored to serve as Chapter President during this exciting time! Before the start of the fiscal year, we had overwhelming responses from members wanting to serve in various capacities, existing sponsors wanting to increase their support and new sponsors expressing interest in partnering with us. We love to build new connections, make new friends and follow our members!
Our Board/Our Sponsors
The FY13 board consists of some returning and some new board members providing the appropriate balance of consistency along with fresh ideas and all are energetic to continue building on the legacy of our founders. It takes strong sponsorship to build strong organizations and develop powerful leaders, so it will be no surprise that most of our board members are employed by NABA Sponsors. Please take a moment to browse through the site and get to know our chapter leaders and Corporate sponsors. Over the 14 years that I have been a part of NABA, I am thrilled to see so many long-time sponsors fully engaged with our chapter and to see new companies come on board to support our mission of “Lifting As We Climb.”
Our Professional Members
As we strive to increase the value of professional membership, we will continue to partner with other business organizations to provide variety and help expand professional networks. For our key events, we will continue to offer discounts or free access for paid members. Additionally, we are currently developing our members only section of the website, which will house job postings from our corporate sponsors and resumes for our professional members. For our Young professionals (1 – 5 years of experience), we are revamping our Young Professional Network (YPN) to ensure we are meeting the needs of those transitioning from college and navigating through the early years of their professional careers.
Our Student Members
Our students have always been our pride and joy as we assist with the development of their professional and leadership skills. Over the years, we have encouraged our students to work harder, overcome obstacles and to strive for success when it seems to be an impossible feat. This year, we will focus on building our pipeline from the student chapters to the professional chapter and highlight the students who are well on their way to becoming our future leaders.
If it takes a community to raise a child, then it takes the entire membership to build (and maintain) a strong organization. As we progress through FY13, we’re asking all members to lend a hand and you can start by making sure your membership dues are paid, but it doesn’t stop there. Maybe you can commit to attending at least one event per quarter. Possibly you can help us reclaim a former NABA member or two. Is your company one of our Corporate Sponsors? If not, maybe you can help us create a relationship with your company. If yes, maybe you can help us build a stronger partnership.
