Fundraising
Plan and coordinate events that will provide funding for the Chapter’s current and future operating costs
Recruit and coordinate corporate support for the Chapter’s services and scholarship program
Seek local corporate sponsorship and participation
Finance
Assists with the development of the Annual Budget
Oversees and performs regular reviews of the Chapter’s financial activities
Chooses an auditor in the event that an audit is required
Oversees and ensures that all required reporting to the National Office is being done on a timely basis
Assures that permanent and temporary restricted funds are not used to fund operations
Assists the Treasurer where necessary
Student Member Services
Acts as liaison between the professional and student chapters in the state of Illinois
Coordinates activities with the local student chapters under the Chapter’s supervision
Encourages and assist students entering the accounting profession
Recruits students to join the professional chapter upon graduation
Coordinates student programs
Registers students and assists with the Central Region Student conference
Professional Member Services
Actively recruits new members, reclaim former members and encourage member participation in Chapter activities
Plans and coordinates membership receptions
Ensures that dues and applications are sent to the National Office for processing
Maintains a current directory/database of the Chapter’s membership
Assists with the communications/public relations effort
Plans and organizes other social/networking events to build camaraderie amongst the members
Community Relations
Acts as a liaison between the Chicago Chapter and various community based groups.
Responsible for coordinating various events throughout the fiscal year that will provide our members with an opportunity to give back to the community.
Scholarship
Coordinates the annual scholarship event
Works with the fundraising committee to obtain the necessary funding for scholarships
Establishes selection criteria for scholarships
Disseminates the scholarship applications to the student chapters in the State of Illinois
Selects the recipients of the scholarships and communicates the results to the Board of Directors
Ensures that all recipients comply with/meet the established requirements
Oversees and ensures that all awards are distributed to the recipients in a timely manner
Professional Development
Develops strategies for continuing education programs
Researches and keeps the Board current on continuing education issues
Public Relations
Ensures proper operation and timely updates to the Chapter website
Acts as liaison between the Chapter and the website host
Assures that all Chapter activities/events are communicated to the membership in a timely manner
Coordinates efforts with committees to promote the Chapter and its objectives
Develops an overall marketing plan to promote the Chapter
Division of Firms
Act as a liaison between the Chapter and NABA Division of Firms as set forth in the NPPM
Promote Division of Firms activities for the local area
Coordinates the annual VITA program in compliance with established guidelines
Young Professionals Network
Recruits and encourages participation of new graduates in the professional chapter
Addresses the needs and concerns of the young professional members (those members within five years or less of completing an undergraduate program) and communicates them to the Board of Directors
Organizes and conduct monthly meetings for young professionals
Assists the Director of Student Member Services with events as they pertain to joint activities between YPN and the student chapters
Oversees planning of all YPN activities/events
Serves as committee members of the Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP)
