Professional Summary

Martrice Caldwell is a Senior Accountant in the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s Government, Contracts and Grants Group.  She is the accountant for the senior housing facilities that the YMCA manages.  In this role she performs month-end close, prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements and assists with the external audit.  Prior to joining the YMCA, Martrice was a senior associate in PwC’s Private Company Services group, where she worked in the tax practice.

NABA Professional Member:

Martrice has been a member of NABA since 2001.  She started as a student member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She served as Photographer, External Vice President, President and Graduate Advisor while on campus.  After leaving campus, Martrice joined the professional chapter in 2005.

Martrice is the Director, VITA Programs for the National Association of Black Accountants.  In this role she manages volunteers that prepare income taxes for low – mid income individuals free of charge.  This is her fourth year in this role and under her  leadership, NABA added a new location for the 2011 season. The program operates four sites and serves 350-400 clients each season. Martrice also serves in the Young Professionals Group of the Illinois CPS Society.  She gives presentations on college campuses about transitioning to the workforce and financial literacy.

Martrice became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2005 and has been operating a tax practice since 2007.  In 2010, she decided to pursue accounting roles and now she serves clients in various tax and accounting capacities.
